Travis "Mizer" Moore

For those who follow this blog you may have noticed a couple of comments left by Travis Moore. One involved the words ass and hat and the other...well I forgot and can't be bothered going back and looking. Anyway, I thought I would show you all what this Travis "Fluffy" Moore guy looks like and, at the same time, show you what kind of hat he prefers. Sure it's not made of ass (though it is made of rabbit fur felt so I suppose some of that fur could have come from an ass cheek) but his face kinda looks like one.

What goes click click clack clack clack click click? Answer.....My hard-drive breaking..Ouuuuuuuuch it hurts so much mummy, it hurts so much! Fuck! What a stress. Lucky I have most things on my external drive. Though all my applications were on that stupid piece of crap! I have a new hard-drive now and am waiting patiently for Final Cut to install..And with a litttle bit of luck the I.T guy at my work can get the info I need out of old clickity clack...Fingers crossed..Fuck!

I am not a violent man (though once I pointed my finger at a man and said some bad stuff) but if I ever did get the feeling for a good old lynching, Apple's Compressor would be hanging from a tree. Unless of course I had a quad core and then it would be curled up next to me being stroked (not that kind) as it purred away......good kitty.

Film Tour Action

For the last few weeks we have been distracted. Distracted by the invitation to submit to the Fly Fishing Film Tour. And by submit we don't mean the, they have got us in some complicated arm lock and our elbows are about to be hyper exended submit. We mean submit as in hand in, apply or even enter kind of submit. We are nearly done too. The cut is done (11 minutes plus change) and we are in the process of developing titles (thanks Chad and Paris) before we upload that shit and hopefully get accepted. Fingers Crossed.

This is a picture of yours truly smiling while sitting at (what you could barely call) my editing suite. Notice the smile and somewhat relaxed deposition (is this the right word and/or spelling).....it is fake. This picture is nothing but a contrived moment that we (Neil Anderson was the photog) created when submitting lifestyle images for our article in This is Fly. Let the truth be known, that while editing can (and is) fun at times (read: when you first start and finally end) it is mainly a drawn out affair that finds you sick of excellent music and unhappy with perfectly good shots. Couple with this a computer that is no-where near as fast as you would like, long nights, a shortage of red wine and deadlines (generally self imposed and hugely flexible) and you start to wonder why you even got into the game......Because we love it? Because we are stupid? Or because we are crazy?........Let's just run with all of those...

How many roofs are there in the world? The answer would obviously be quite a high number. So I pose this question. What percentage of these roofs have been built with trades-people wearing Dunlop Volleys? Answer 99 percent....And the other one percent I hear you ask, what do they wear? They don't wear nothin, cause they broke there legs when they slipped off the roof while not wearing Volleys....Fools!

SUCK A FISH AND DIE!

The count down is on! The Heads or Tails trailer will officially be launched to the world in This is Fly magazine (http://www.thisisfly.com/) on November the first. A big thanks to Paris for the hook-up. We are stoked to have TIF setting things off for us. The swagger these guys bring is directly in line with what we like here at Mad Phil Media. YEw!

We are back and we are smiling. We also managed to raise the corners of the mouth while the lower jaw is dragging on the floor, though the heat turned our drool into boiling, sticky pools in no time....and it wasn't even that hot! We managed to secure some footage that will need plenty of touches from Final Cut Pro's slow motion feature, though I promise it won't be over used, and also even more touches of your DVD player's rewind feature....Oh yeah!

One more night, give me just, one more night, one more night blah blah blah..We all know the song and we probably all know that the song isn't about heading north to film permit. But that is exactly where we will find ourselves tomorrow morning. It's not all burning tape and waving wands though. This time we will sit down with Geoff and Simon and have a good long chat about what goes down up, down and around when they are out chasing these fish. As-well as taking some time to sit on the beach or around the pool and drink a woobler or two. Of course we will spend some time chasing the things aswell. Just in-case we can add to the footage we already have.

Jooooooordaaaaaaaan. The number 23 man. That guy gots game. In attempt to lift my own, I've been getting grip with these number fours (thanks to to the dog...woof). Run, ride, jump these kicks will get it done. They are pretty much the best shoes ever....Besides threes....they look radical!

Two weeks, just over actually, until we are back in action filming what will hopefully evolve into the last piece of the permit puzzle. Six days we have to burn the film of images of permit behaving in ways that will make us smile...if you can smile with your jaw on the ground and drool pooling around your feet...

We will sit down with Geoff and Simon and have a good chat about running after, stalking down and zipping around after these prized fish...and then probably spend some time around the pool drinking..... inbetween dinner catching trips.

I haven't seen Drift yet and (with Heads or Tails being a self-produced venture) I can't afford to buy a copy. So, I will probably watch Geoff's copy a million times while trying to ignore the impact of my wife's fists to my crutchual region.

Simon Penn. He is un-employed and bumming on the north coast. He also manages to find himself securely embedded in the Heads or Tails project. We learnt the following on out last filming trip.

Casting into the wind sucks, especially when there is a camera guy standing in the wrong spot on the boat.

Lapell mics break for no aparent reason when he wears them...luckily it was just after he landed a fish.

You should go fishing from the shore for tailing permit rather than staying at home.

We also learnt he is a nice guy...Awwwwwww..hugs.

Well, the eyes are square and we're getting somewhere. The preview of 'heads or tails' is nearly in the bag. Compressor says it is 5533 frames down (5620 now). The old batch monitor has a lower number in hours and minutes (I just quit it cause it is depressing), so wee will see wether I sleep on it or wait it out. Don't worry I'm sure there is a setting wrong and I will have to export it again, but hey, welcome to video world where shit goes wrong just because you are tired and sleepy. Soon it will be here for you, while for me blinking becomes scratchy........even though the eyes aren't itchy. 

Caught mid flight in horsy pose, Tosh Nots lines up a turtle for a nostalgic tinge on a trip to Shark Bay, ten hours north of Perth, Western Australia.

Better known for its pink snapper and jumbo tailor (that's buefish for yall states-side) than it's turtle pouncing grounds, the bay proved fun for the boys on their trip last month.

Tosh also proved his new Polar is so stable, that the only way to get thrown off the thing is by the magnetic pull of a turtles shell.....which leads us to a piece of advice......Do not operate a compass near a turtle's shell.

So, what happens when you turn 33? guys dress up as girls and girls, well they dress up as girls. People change the letters on your keyboard and songs aren't played all the way through. At least the burgers are good and the booze flows easy...Your house might end up (someone changed my p to on o) trashed but its all good. Props to Dror and his daughter Caitlin for putting up with 20 burger eating feins and for the best scream off in public ever........i spelt feins wrong...oh well..

Who knows the movie "Running Down the Man"?..I do, and if you don't, you should. This Felt Soul Media production (http://www.feltsoulmedia.com) blew minds (I think a few people might have blown in their pants too) when it was released in 07. Rooster fish are HOT, so make sure you check their "The Craft" section on the site....They are into the environmental side of things too (check Red Gold out)....So on the way down to the shops to buy their movies, pick up some rubbish and do your bit too.

Bream tournaments have been living in boom town for a few years now, and one guy that has chosen the same town to dwell in is Brad Yates. With a W.A.B.T (R.I.P) angler of the year trophy under his belt and plenty of top ten finishes, this kid has got the skills to get shit done. You wanna egg cooked?...he can do it....double uni?...with his eyes closed.....ping a bunny at 100 yards?....no problems, just watch the vapor trail......walk down the isle?...easy (we will see in November). Anyway, watch his promo.

Meet Geoff Anderson, he is one of the stars of Heads or Tails. He can father a child and cast a fly like the best of them (he can tie them as-well). Sure this isn't one of the many permit he caught for the movie camera, but it's just as iconic. The Fitzroy River trip was a good chance to unwind and escape the filming blues. Pinning a few barra on the fly was a bonus. Hey, the barramundi might even be the star of the next flick........if they pass the audition.

The camera guys gets to fish too.....after a previous trip where next to no fishing was done it was good to be able to get a chance to have a wave at some permit. The first fished hooked was promptly popped (it's not a tuna Phil) but the second one stuck all the way to the boat.......

Well filming is nearly complete on our first project... Heads or Tails.
The north of Western Oz has been pretty kind to those involved, with the permit sticking their tails up for plenty of shots by both anglers and the camera.

The wind sucked in the mornings on our last trip, making conditions difficult for casting and shooting from the boat, but both Geoff and Simon managed fish in the shitty conditions. It was a great sight seeing fish feeding over reef flats as waves broke over them...and us.

Geoff took a dive after being washed off a rock...permit in hand. And I took a dive with thousands of dollars of camera equipment in mine...Luckily Geoff was there to save the day and keep the camera dry.....and my smoke...ha!

The official trailer should be released soon..just need to get all the new footage on the computer and start chopping....Keep an eye out.
